Drs. Peter Acker, Jeff Brown, Norman Berkowitz. Drs. Mary Versfelt, Kristen Woodard, Lauren Carton.
- Our easy-to-reach office has regularly scheduled hours Monday
through Friday.
- Sick children with acute illness can also be seen without an appointment weekdays before the start
of our regular scheduled hours. On weekend and holiday mornings, children with acute and urgent medical problems can also
be seen by a physician. (See our office hours section for further information.) A physician is ALWAYS available by telephone
to discuss urgent medical problems.
- We have two designated waiting areas to minimize contact between well and sick
children.
- Consultation appointments can be scheduled to discuss behavioral and school-related issues with our
physicians.
- We encourage our many adolescent and young adult patients to remain in our practice until 21 years of
age.

- ANNOUNCEMENTS and REMINDERS
- RECALL: LIQUID TYLENOL, MOTRIN,
ZYRTEC, and BENADRYL FOR INFANTS AND CHILDREN
The FDA has recalled these medicines made by McNeil Laboratories (a subsidiary
of Johnson & Johnson) because one manufacturing plant in Pennsylvania did not meet quality standards: some of the medicines
contained black particles, some were not correct strength, and some may have been contaminated with bacteria. Only LIQUID
medicines were affected, and NO children have been reported ill from taking them. Chewable medicines or tablets may be used
when practical or different brands of fever reducers (acetaminophin and ibuprofin) and antihistamines may be substituted.
To avoid confusion, we recommend that you discard any liquid infant and children's medicines in your home that carry the McNeil
label, and avoid buying them until further notice. An easy alternative is to use CVS or other store brands as a replacement.
Your local pharmacist can assist you when making your choice. Updated information about this recall can be obtained at the
McNeil recall website: www.mcneilproductrecall.com
- NEW VACCINE RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is recommended that
children who have previously received the MENACTRA meningitis vaccine get a booster dose after 5 years if they expect to be
living in high risk group settings (e.g. sleep-away camp bunks and school dormitories.)
GARDASIL vaccine against HPV
(known to cause cervical cancer and genital warts) had peviously been recommended only for girls. Current recommendations
suggest that boys may also receive this vaccine. Please discuss this recommendation with our doctors.
