For more than 35 years, our board-certified pediatricians, office staff, and nurses have been providing our Westchester and Connecticut families with the very best medical care for their infants, children, and young adults.

We are affiliated with Greenwich Hospital in Greenwich CT and the Maria Fareri Children's Hospital at the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla NY. We also make regular referrals to our many contacts at neighboring teaching hospitals in New York City and New Haven CT.

Drs. Peter Acker, Jeff Brown, Norman Berkowitz.
Drs. Mary Versfelt, Kristen Woodard, Lauren Carton.

  • Our easy-to-reach office has regularly scheduled hours Monday through Friday.
  • Sick children with acute illness can also be seen without an appointment weekdays before the start of our regular scheduled hours. On weekend and holiday mornings, children with acute and urgent medical problems can also be seen by a physician. (See our office hours section for further information.) A physician is ALWAYS available by telephone to discuss urgent medical problems.
  • We have two designated waiting areas to minimize contact between well and sick children.
  • Consultation appointments can be scheduled to discuss behavioral and school-related issues with our physicians.
  • We encourage our many adolescent and young adult patients to remain in our practice until 21 years of age.

  • PARKING FOR OUR NEW OFFICE AT 26 RYE RIDGE PLAZA. There is a patient drop-off and limited parking opposite our new office entrance at the rear of the building. Additional parking is also available in the main parking lot at the front of the building: Enter through number 14 - and take the stairs or elevator down one level. We hope you enjoy the bright, cheerful environment we have created for you and your children.

  • NEW RECOMMENDATIONS FOR COUGH AND COLD MEDICINES:
Evidence suggests that cold and cough medicines may be dangerous for children under 2 years of age. Studies have also shown that these medicines are not effective for children under the age of 6 years and may have undesirable side effects. Except in special circumstances, they are no longer recommended for younger children.

  • WHOOPING COUGH (PERTUSSUS) VACCINE FOR PATIENTS AND PARENTS: This vaccine is now recommended for patients at 11 and 18 years. It is also recommended for both parents who have recently had a baby. Unimmunized women who are in their third trimester or who expect to become pregnant in the future should also receive this vaccine. Immunity has been shown to decrease over time, so booster shots are necessary to protect infants during the first few months of life. The vaccine is sometimes referred to by the name Tdap(tetatus, diphtheria and attenuated pertussus).

  • CHILDHOOD AUTISM:
There is now VERY strong evidence that vaccines are NOT the primary cause of childhood autism. Our doctors are committed to protect your children from harm. We, and most professional advisory groups believe that the risks from vaccine-preventable illnesses greatly outweigh those from vaccination. We recognize that this is a very emotional issue for many parents and will be happy to discuss your concerns with you. We suggest that you visit our "Useful Information Links" page to get an update on diagnosing and treating childhood autism and its associated disorders.
